Good Faith Estimate
Honest answers about the cost of care — before you begin.
At Sunrise Courage Counseling, I believe you deserve to know what to expect — including what therapy will cost. That's not just good practice; it's the law.
What Is the No Surprises Act?
The No Surprises Act is a federal law that went into effect January 1, 2022. It was created to protect people from unexpected medical bills — and it applies to mental health services too.
Under this law, if you are uninsured or choose not to use your insurance for therapy, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before your first appointment.
What Your Estimate Will Include
- The expected cost per session based on the services we discuss
- The type and frequency of services anticipated
- Any other items or services reasonably expected as part of your care
Your Rights Under This Law
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your scheduled service.
If your final bill is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge.
Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
